Ven. Prof Chris Okoye
Biography: Ven Prof Ikem Chris Okoye is a native of Ifite Nanka in the present Orumba North LGA, Anambra State. Ikem had his primary education at Ubulu primary School, Ubulu-uku in the defunct Bendel (now Delta State) and attended secondary school at Anglican Grammar School, Ubulu-uku. After the National Youth Service (NYSC) scheme in Kafanchan, Kaduna State, Ikem attended the University of Maiduguri for the Masters of Sciences (M.Sc) programme and graduated in 1992 with M.Sc in Applied Entomology and Parasitology and Certificate in Computer Application. He later obtained the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree of the University of Jos in 2002, majoring in Human Health Parasitology.
Work Experience: Ikem joined the services of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Faculty of Biological Sciences andDepartment of Zoology (now,Department of Zoologyand Environmental Biology)in 2005. He had earlier worked as Lecturer at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi and part-time at Adamawa State University, Mubi, in Adamawa State.
PPSN Experience: Ven Prof Ikem Chris Okoye joined the Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PSN), now Parasitology and Public Health Society of Nigeria (PPSN) in 2005 during the conference at the University of Jos. He was originally a member of the North East Zone until November 2015. He acted briefly (about a year) as the Zonal Coordinator of the North East Zone after Prof O.B Akogun joined the PPSN Council, initially as Publicity Secretary before relocating to the South East. Ven Prof Okoye was elected Assistant Secretary in 2015 and later Zonal Coordinator, South East in 2016 at the Abeokuta conference.
