Prof. Rowland I. S. Agbede

I joined the Nigerian Society for PARASITOLOGY in 1978. I. attended my first NSP conference in 1980 after which I became a member of NSP Council in 1981 as Assistant Secretary. I have served in various positions in Council, notably member of Editorial Board with Prof. Luke D Edungbolafnsp as Editor in Chief. I was Secretary to Zaria LOC, 1978, when late Professor Adamu Nayaya Mohammed was President and Chairman LOC. It's worth noting that late Professor Okpala was President and he delivered that memorable lecture titled " A country where wealth accumulates and health decays " Members later christened the lecture "Climbing the Mount Kilimanjaro ".I continued in Council as Member Editorial Board, 1984 to 1990. I became chairman L.O.C in 1990 and was elected Editor in Chief in1999 at the conference in Bauchi. I served for two(2) terms of four years each before I was elected Fellow of the Society (fnsp) in 2002 together with Professor Martin .G. Ogbe . I was elected President in 2005 at the Abeokuta conference. I was President for one term (2 years) and handed over to Professor Oladele Akogun in 2007. I became EX - Officio member of Council later to be elected as Member Board of TRUSTEES in 2014 a position I still hold in the service of the Society.
